Each morning starts with a sigh and groan
How many more hours until I’m back in the safety of sleep?
Protection from the anxious world
Start the day with reservations too deep
Keeping a smile buried under a cold face
Mask all the fear, desperation to be me one more
Don’t let anything show, not even a trace
Gone to far, now I’m seen as something cold
Something to be treated with disdain and dismay
All I want is to have it all back, the good, the old
But how do you get back what’s been caged in by concrete bricks?
To high and thick to be punched down
Turning back to my solitaire world is so much easier than this
